Updates to members’ pensions
In September 2024 we wrote to members affected by a High Court ruling and a change to pensions law. The change meant we had to check a part of some members’ pensions known as Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP). We’re doing this to make sure that men and women are being treated equally.
We consulted with these members on our proposal to convert GMP to ‘normal’ pension in the Scheme.
Following the consultation and after taking into account members’ feedback, we confirmed we will proceed with the proposals.
If you do not have GMP you are not affected by these changes, so we did not write to you.
Already taking your Manweb Group pension?
If you have GMP, we sent you a letter in September 2025.
If that letter included figures for how your pension is affected, you're in phase 1. If it did not include figures, you're in phase 2.
Phase 1 We aim to update your pension in February 2026. | Phase 2 We’re aiming to send you your figures in September 2026. |
If you’re eligible, we’ve also written to you about Pension Increase Exchange. | If you’re eligible, that’s also when we’ll write to you about Pension Increase Exchange. |
Not taking your Manweb Group pension yet?
If you have GMP, we’ll convert it into normal pension when you take your benefits from the Scheme. We’ll send you a pension quotation that explains what you’ll get when you get close to retiring.
